Judging One Eyeland Fine Art Awards
Last year I was humbled to win a few awards for a personal project called ‘Form Follows Function’. And one of these awards was from One Eyeland within their Fine Art Photographers Contest.
This year I’m very pleased to be asked to judge the Fine Art Awards and look forward to seeing concepts from around the world.
Below are a few images from ‘Form Follows Function’ and if your interested in seeing the entire series along with more artwork by BASTARD TURPIN please click here.
Form Follows Function
The human figure is one of the most enduring themes in visual arts. Embracing an appreciation of the human body and paying homage to art history with the recurring form of the female figure, ‘Form Follows Function’ deconstructs this standard perspective and reconstructs body shape and posture into ambiguous sculptural forms.
The body was cast in silicone, and the form was then delicately finessed and skilfully hand-painted and punched with hair over the body. A real human hair wig was styled and implemented for the final finish of realism.
