Working with Covid Restrictions
Conducting shoots with Covid restrictions makes things a little different and at times much trickier. We cannot always capture everything in camera due to these restrictions and that might be down to a few different reasons and situations, from people not able to stand next to each other while being filmed or photographed, or not being able to get the permit for a specific location, and the list goes on.
With a strong understanding of post production this has actually become a larger part of the everyday workflow with more compositing needed to add people or remove elements, we are planning detailed shoots that then have CGI elements introduced from small objects through to full environments.
As Covid pushes our creative solutions, post production is taking a front seat and leading the direction of how we undertake a shoot safely as well as retain the creative vision required.
Recently undertaking a shoot that required multiple locations, we decided that due to both the restrictions, and giving us the creative freedom and ability to both style and design a location exactly to our vision and requirements we built entire scenes in 3D. Executed as stills only, the option to animate or create live video with the same scene is also viable. On set we controlled the numbers on set through planning ensuring only essential personal were allowed set at the same time. Once we had captured the desired elements we then composited and graded all the elements together to create the finished still images.
